The research cluster around Newsrooms of the Future aims to explore the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on news gathering, analysis, and distribution, as well as journalism practices. The overarching goal is to determine how AI can support the role of journalism in informing society, promoting critical thinking, and fostering debate. It seeks to identify new platforms and business models for AI-driven services that can positively contribute to innovation in the media sector. Furthermore, it will consider questions about user-oriented forms of civic journalism. Ultimately, the research cluster wants to envision what the media will look like in ten to fifteen years, what role AI will play in journalism, and how innovation and competition can drive this future.
