
Merel Noorman is Associate Lector in Responsible AI at the Amsterdam University of Applied Science, and a board member of the AI, Media and Democracy Lab. In her position, she is going to focus on the responsible development and embedding of AI technologies in existing practices. In her current work, she is particularly concerned with the democratization of AI and the question of how society can maintain control over increasingly complex technologies. With her interdisciplinary background in AI, ethics, and governance, she connects technological developments to societal values and democratic accountability, with particular attention to applications in public services, media, and the creative industries.
She has worked on several national and international research projects focused on ethical and social aspects of complex and intelligent computer technologies.
