There is no such thing as an “AI race”, as it would imply that there is a finish line or end point. In an article for Dutch newspaper NRC, Hannes Cools reflects on the AI Summit that took place in Paris this February. He argues that regulating AI is not as big a threat to innovation as is often posed. The real innovation lies in the mechanisms that ensure technologies are deployed safely and responsibly.
